Chitra Sekhar – MSc, MEd
|Chitra is a certified Child Psychotherapist and Play Therapist, with an academic background in Child Development and Educational Counselling. She has more than 20 years of experience working with children and families who have experienced multiple transitions, trauma, grief and stress. Her practice has expanded to include children with disabilities, behavioral and developmental challenges, and children dealing with issues related to adoption. Chitra’s practice is focused on using a diverse range of creative approaches to meet the individual needs of her young clients, while also offering parental counseling to caregivers.
She seeks to provide children and their families with holistic and sustainable solutions to address their problems, while also providing clients with concrete tools they can use to maintain their own mental health and emotional well being moving forward.
Chitra is additionally an Adjunct Professor at Carleton University and an international psycho-social consultant, with extensive experience with children in conflict and disaster zones. She is also an active member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
