Sheila Herron – Clinical Social Work / Therapist, MSW, RSW
|I offer my clients a respectful, empathic and supportive environment to connect on a deeper level, with themselves and others. I accompany my clients on the journey of self-discovery and personal growth. I encourage individuals to recognize and connect with their feelings, moving away from adaptive strategies of the past that may impede positive connections towards emotional engagement, openness and risk-taking.
I work with individuals, couples and families. I have experience helping people with issues related to anger, anxiety, stress, grief, loss, end of life issues, infidelity, unresolved trauma and substance abuse. My focus of study has been on the power of secure attachments within relationships, and how to heal attachment injuries, experientially, behaviourally, and cognitively.
In couple work, my influences have been the works of John Gottman, Sue Johnson, Terrence Real and Joe Kort. I use an eclectic style which incorporates emotion focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, psycho-dynamic therapy, strengths-based therapy and attachment theory.
